The corona-virus pandemic has forced many companies to embrace work from home solutions. Hence, working from home could become the new normal. Working from home could become quite challenging as previously some people would have not done it or it could be not having a suitable environment. If you’re constantly frazzled on the job, logging super long hours with little to show for it at the end of the day, it could likely be that you’re mismanaging your time. But the good news is that it’s easy (enough) to reorganize your schedule and get back on a successful path.
“A lot is coming at us: mail and paper in general emails, texts, phone calls, bosses calling for help, deadlines, projects, etc. It doesn’t stop,” points out Felice Cohen, organizer and author of 90 Lessons for Living Large in 90 Square Feet (or More). No wonder so many of us get so behind and feel so exasperated. But it doesn’t have to stay that way. Here I'll help you organize efficient a cosy work desk.
Try to stick to the following points:
Keeping only five items on your desk.
the clutter, extra paper, post-it note, staplers, tape and that mug filled with 50 unused pens and markers. And the room for the only computer, to-do list, a planter(indoor plant) and phone if that's required and not a distraction. Always keep an organizer handy, for all your prints so that it will not get misplaced easily. Have a jar or glass bottle filled with water next to you, it also could be fruit infused water. Hydrating yourself is must for the body it also helps to be more productive.
Having an indoor plant such as Succulent, Snake plant, Aloe Vera, Lucky bamboo, Peace Lily, Fern and rubber plant inside the house revitalizes the soul and senses. At times continuously staring at the screen might stress your eyes. Having a green plant can help you relieve stress.
Keep a digital To-Do list
Speaking of that to-do list: Consider skipping the paper version and keep a digital list instead. Why? “A digital list allows you to search, which is a powerful advantage over the paper,” explains Frank Buck, author of Get Organized! Time Management for School Leaders. For example, Buck says, “Let’s say Billy walks in the door unexpectedly. You can search for ‘Billy’ on your list, and watch the list highlight only the things you need to talk with him about. Or when you have downtime, you can search for ‘call,’ and you will see a list of
phone calls you could be making during that time, so you’re not wasting time.”
Set aside 15 minutes at the end of each day.
To Organize your desk and put back things to its place. Use a recycle bin or trash can. You can also use your online parcel boxes as a recycle bin which is again Eco-friendly as well as cost-saving.
Prepare your to-do list for tomorrow, so that you are set up for tomorrows success. "Push yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you."
